MILL MEADOW AND SURROUNDING AREA
Wildlife in the mill meadows
The sheep keep a watchful eye out even when the Mill is closed |
The Friends of Bromham Mill have recently installed bird and bat boxes in the Mill meadows and on the island. A map and details of sitings will be placed on this page soon.
The mill island is home to three sheep, Shorn, Shaky and Stroppy - so named after their reactions to being shorn for the first time!
To keep up to date with wildlife around the mill, look at our Nature Blog.

Why not visit Stevington postmill while you're in the area?
A postmill originally built around 1770, it was still in use until the 1930s. Following recent restoration, the sails can be seen turning at least twice a year - ring Bromham Mill for details on (01234) 824330.
For an inside view of the postmill, visitors can obtain a key from either of the Royal George pub or the Red Lion pub (both in Silver Street in Stevington village). A returnable deposit is required.
See the Bedford Borough Council website for more detail about Stevington postmill.
