2nd March 2014 : Bromham Mill to re-open for Easter 2014

We understand that Bedford Borough Council expects to have the construction of a cafe in the main building and certain repair work completed before Easter 2014. If there are no delays to the work, it may well be that a formal re-opening could take place as early as late March.

The Events Team of Bedford Borough Council are now handling enquiries for private functions at the Mill; if you wish to enquire as to facilities, dates and prices you should email

Although it is not yet clear who will run the cafe, the Friends of Bromham Mill will continue to work with Bedford Borough Council and Bromham Parish Council to support the active use of the Mill as a community asset. As soon as we have more information about forthcoming events we will post it here.

23rd December 2013 : Mill Staff's departure next week

Next week Lorraine and Adrian will finish their jobs at Bromham Mill. For many years they have worked to keep the mill at the heart of village life, not just as an historical and educational resource but also as a haven for wildlife, a peaceful site for recreation and leisure and a location for local residents to celebrate and to share their skills. Their knowledge of and passion for the site is unique and has meant they have regularly exceeded their job descriptions and paid hours. The Friends of Bromham Mill will continue to work to maintain public access to the Mill, even though it will be a great deal harder without the two people who know it best. We know they will be sorely missed.

12th November 2013 : No bookings available

No private function or guided tour bookings can be taken for the first part of 2014. See more about the Council decision to put Bromham Mill out to tender.
